> PJ's Steaks' story <

History of cheesesteaks

This all began in the early 1930’s when Pat, tried of eating the same thing, wanted to try something different. So during lunchtime, he sent his younger brother Harry to go fetch him some steak at the butcher’s. Pat took steaks, chopped it up on his grill and tossed it all on a roll. A local cab driver, a friend of Pat’s, was curious as to what Pat was eating and insisted that he try it as well. After one bite, his cab driver told Pat to ditch the hotdogs and sell this instead.

How we started

Since PJ first encounter with Philly cheesesteak while he was studying in USA, he scoured the globe trying to locate the best spot to bring this authentic flavour. I had the chilly cheesesteak and my partner had the street dog. We both agreed the chips, which are lightly herbed, were great. I couldn't finish my cheesesteak (it was loaded!) but it was delicious! There was a hint of bite to the sauce, and a really American-style, almost chipotle-esque chilly. My partner said the dog was good, but my cheesesteak was "fascinating!" I think thats a positive review! Mmmm-mmmm! I'll be back!

Brings back memories of the good ol' USA!

Yup! Me and my mate Mick love punishing ourselves with PJ Steaks. We may not like everything American, but American cheese steak buns, with fries, and a bottle of root beer (aka sarsparilla) really hits the spot on a Friday night. Go in and check out the decor, it's pretty cool and brings back memories of the good ol' USA! Remember, Uncle Sam wants you! :)
